I believe in kindness.
I will respectfully listen to residents, businesses and the other councillors. We all have different opinions and that is ok.
The kids at #PortMelbournePrimary have it right with this cool values board on the school oval.

We expect more from our waste management. This is comparing #CityofPortPhillip with other Councils close to us on kerbside collection waste diverted from landfill, based on 2018-2019 data.
The Council does comment that the recycling fiasco of 2019 did impact the numbers but we clearly need to improve across the board.

I work to a client’s budget everyday. In design it is about what the owner wants, creatively composed to what they can afford.
In architecture school I honed my ‘think outside the box’ skills. Running my own residential practice brings it all back to money...the client’s money.
As a Councillor it is about asking the residents and businesses what they want and using their rates as the budget to deliver it.
Pictured below are before and after photos of a recently completed ‘common area enhancement’ project. I was the project manager. There were 8 existing units (12 owners plus some tenants) to get to agree to numerous decisions and coordinate the works. We came under budget while getting everything on their list (including landscaping) and everyone is still friendly to each other!

Wouldn’t it be nice to see more plants and trees in the City of Port Phillip? Especially colourful ones?
I applaud Council planting (first) the sunflowers to revitalise the soil and now the daffodils at Cruikshank Street Reserve.
If you look at the percentage of public land available for planting, it isn’t much. Much of the municipality is private property, roads or foreshore. Our nature strips need to work hard to help reduce the heat island effect, assist with storm water and look great.

What is #localgovernment responsible for again? Here is a quick refresher of the 3 tiers of government in Australia.
However, there are so many more services also offered by the #CityofPortPhillip, such as libraries, maternal child health, beaches, aged care services and child care to name a few.

Although we moved to Port Melbourne officially in 2012, my husband's family has important history here. His maternal grandfather was born on Walter Street, Port Melbourne in 1928.
